Snow on the birches is a great way to start a new Idaho year,
... and some folks say that winter is the coolest season. Sorry, I just couldn't resist saying that.
Family is a good thing.
Keeping up with the adventures of a couple generations of kids and grandkids is pretty near impossible but it surely is fun trying ... ... and any day that a dad gets to spend quality time on the range with his daughter is a good day indeed.
Summer
We didn't get to the mountains much this year but it all worked out because it appears that the wildlife has started making house calls.
We think the fox was hunting for gophers and he's welcome to all he can catch. The old buck (an 11-point) walked right up to the patio and we thought he might invite himself in but he finally just snacked on some crabapple shoots and wandered off. Everything seemed to be as it should except that fence just outside Stanley maybe could use a little help.
Autumn, when the maple trees turn to gold, has to be one of the best times of the year.
...and now, the poinsettia is in its place by the hutch, there's a tree growing in the living room, and the Christmas beagle is on station on the piano. There's baklava in the cupboard, fruitcake in the fridge, and joy in our souls. Hallelujah! It's Christmas time again,
